Keep on Trucking

While looking for pictures - I came across this one of Mike Moyer. This is from the trip we took to move the Moyer possessions from Columbus OH to San Bernadino. I have no idea what he is doing under the truck. But, if anything could go wrong - it certainly did on that trip. He and I need to get together someday to try to remember all the stories and write them down. The best had to be the California State Patrol calling Mom in the middle of the night to verify that I was supposed to be with him. They didn't believe we were related since our names were different and I was only 18. I'm not sure today that they would even care.

Mickey wanted me to post pictures of him and Missy dancing at our wedding - but I couldn't find any. Back then we didn't take the volume of pictures we take now. This is the best I could do. In the "toast" photo, Chet's parents are younger that we are now, and Mom and Dad are younger than Mike and Nettie (just)

A Month of Weddings

Since we are doing wedding shots - Jim and Mary & Chet and I also celebrated anniversaries this month. I don't have many good shots of Jim and Mary's wedding. In the one photo, Mom is attesting to the fact that it was the hottest day of the year. I have to say, I think Mary's gown is the most beautiful one I have ever seen

The Good, The Bad, and the Buzzing

Saturday I decided to clean up my flower beds. I was cutting back the Irises when I stepped into a hole. I wondered were it came from, but just shrugged, move some dirt into it and stamped it down. A few minutes later I was stung by a bee. Normally I would have just brushed it off, but for some reason I decided to go inside to see if I had any baking soda (I didn't). Good thing I did - because I had stamped down on a nest and boy were they angry! I tried to get a picture last night, but they just weren't cooperating, and then Chet killed them when he got home.

This one's for Riss

Yesterday was a perfect day - crisp and clear. And the leaves are just beginning to be tipped in paint. More to come!

Sauce time!

Chet picked 6+ buckets of Roma tomatoes. I started cutting, pureeing and boiling around 9:00am Sunday morning and took the last pot off of the stove at 5:00pm. I still only got through 4 of the buckets. Unfortunately, I tried to rush the process and didn't let the first pot cool enough. One bag burst in the freezer. I cleaned it up as much as I could - but we are going to have to live with some frozen tomato sauce for a while until the freezer is empty enough to clean out - and that could be next spring. Oh well, if nothing ever goes wrong, there aren't any funny stories to tell!
